Dee could you send me a PM with your phone number? I can explain my procedure
for setting my mag timing and fuel set-up. Do you have a magneto tester?
Thanks

I should also mention that there is only one firing order for a normal
VW type 1 engine, and that's 1-4-3-2. For some reason, the GPASC manual
has 1-4-3-2 for distributor ignition, and 1-2-3-4 for magneto. I have
no idea what Steve was thinking when he put this in his manual, unless

In other word. It it times to Number ONE cylinder on compression stroke. Sound like it’s 180 deg out. Really difficult to fix via email. Surely you know a local mechanic Phil. Sent from my iPhoneOn 29 May 2023, at 07:41, Kevin Stolhammer via KRnet wrote:I'm only telling you how I got it wrong. I

I wrote "Top Dead Cylinder". Duhmake that "Top Dead Center" for the
cylinder being evaluated. A short circuit in what's left of my brain, I
assume.
As for carburetors, I wish you luck with the POSa. "Controlled leak" is
being charitable. My advise would be to buy something else. Those

Try this. Disconnect the fuel line and plug it. You don't want fuel
anywhere nearby when doing this.
Remove the valve covers.

I'm only telling you how I got it wrong.
I got confused by using several resource manuals, and wound up setting
valve clearances using 1234, while my 09 ignition fires 1432. Still had
compression on individual cylinders, and had spark at each plug, just not
at the correct time. It would pop and
Kevin,
Please articulate this point a little further for me. Are you saying that
I'm firing in the wrong cylinders?
Thanks

More than once I have set the valves wrong. Meaning compression sequence
and ignition sequence were not the same, and yet individually each cylinder

Still have not got my HAPI engine with a POSA throttle body and Slick 4216
magneto started.
These are the facts as I have them right now.
1. Compression of the cylinders indicates that the engine is good.

b. RL 110
c. FR 125
d. RR 115
