Hey Shaffer,
I just read your post about your experience on the KR2 cable break. I was
actually thinking about converting my toe (cable) break into a stick handle
like yours... It sounds like your break (after converted into disk break)
now is good enough to lock up both side of your wheels when d
Once off the ground those brakes aren't an issue.

The handle top was 15 inches above the pivot bolt, and the cable
mounting hole was 2 and 13/16 inches below the pivot bolt. No, they
would not hold up

I have already done a lot of work on my breaks such as replaced all
cables with new ones and changed paddle size and even modified the
"actuator" mechanism inside the drums etc, however it is still
lack of breaking power.
Thank you again Larry for the excellent advice on the poor performance of
my KR2's cable break. You are quite right about my own disbelief on my
cable break performance, and I refuse to give it up until I am completely
convinced about the design deficiency of applying a cable break on the

What size tubing are you using and what brand of brake?

Bud; can you be more specific about which mechanical brake wheels you're
looking for? Many different types have been used on KRs over the years. I
have a set of the wheels and tires that came with the original spring-bar
retractable landing gear. Contact me offline at taildr...@hotmail.com if
Here's hoping someone out there still has a couple of mechanical brake
wheels they would like to sell. I made a trailer hitch to fasten to the
tail wheel which worked fine over the years..until now - blown tire,
destroyed wheel. Happily, the K R is o.k,. but I plan to change both
wheels jus
