Remember that Dana didn't weld those tanks, but rather riveted and then sloshed
those tanks.
They were for Mark Jones and details are on his website...

After all the talk about the tanks, I looked at the one that Mark Jones has and
it reminded me of all te hours I spent repairing and sealing wet wings and the
horrible smell of the proseal. I would think that by now there are better
bonding agents for aluminum out there where one could possible
I am about ready to build my tanks. I am going to try alum. bonded with a
vinyl ester/flox mixture. I will let you know how it works.

Kenneth, aluminum welding would certainly be my first choice. With that
said, so many KR builders don't want to use outside contractors in their
construction. One of the construction parameters in designing the tank
construction process used in Mark's tanks was the ability of the average KR

Hi Guys,
Like Dana Said, I am finishing up my first RV-7A wing and ready to start
on the second one. All the talk about the "black death" proseal on the
RV lists makes me chuckle. If you can't pound it or bend it the RV guys
start panicking. You should hear them talk about the minuscule amou
I made an aluminum tank for my first KR and had it professionally welded. I
tested and returned for corrections twice. I never had a problem with this
tank and would do it again without question.
The only problem, you have to find someone who can and will weld unless you
can do it.

I have done this type of soldering of aluminum for last two or three years and
it has done a good job on what I have done. It's not been on aluminum tanks but
on other parts for my KR. I have tig welded and soldered the various parts.
Both methods require some skill and practice to get a good
Hello all,
This is a test and if it works, I would like to say that today I received my
left wing fuel tank from Dana and he has outdone himself. The tank is a work of
art and I am overwhelmed. This has got my building blood boiling again. It is
time to get back to some serious building. Also, i
Dana Overall who built the tanks for me suggested I forward this e-mail to
