Like a lot of folks that looked at the recommended shelf attachment I was a little skeptical of the strength. But I think the shelf can be used. What I did was to used a 4" x ΒΌ" plywood above and below the top longerons with 5/8" stock from side to side in the front and rear of these shear webs.
