See http://www.krnet.org/crashes/vh-dub1.jpg and http://www.krnet.org/crashes/vh-dub2.jpg and here's what Allen said about the crash below. As I recall, it was one of his first flights, and the canopy opened after liftoff, killing the lift on the right wing, and basically stalling it off the end of the runway. It's a gorgeous airplane now, as you can see at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/australia/070504049.jpg . --------------------------- Hi Phil, Looking at the photos of Gene Byrd's kr2s crash brought back memories of my crash 3 yrs before. I fortunately fitted my shoulder harness via cables to the tail wheel attach point, which in part, saved me from serious injury. The other, I was sitting on 100mm thick styrene foam as my seat base and back rest, with 25mm thick cushion. My bodyweight at 60kg still managed to compress the seat foam by a third of its original thickness. My injury resulted in a compression of my spine and fractured vertebra. As you know, I rebuilt the aircraft and returned it back to the air in 2004 and still have the same type of foam seating. The attached are 2 photos of the crash. Kind regards Allen Buzza VH-DUB Mark Langford N56ML "at" hiwaay.net website at http://www.N56ML.com --------------------------------------------------------
