My engine came with Jet Hot pipes and I've had some rusting at the
crossover section. I called them a long time ago, based upon Steve
telling me they were guaranteed for life. I got nowhere with them. They
had all sorts of exclusions. I imagine it's a
I've mentioned this before and I've never tried this myself but a friend of
mine Jim Clements who has built 10 or 11 Wittman Tailwinds says if you paint

they get hot and protects them from rusting and leaves them look

Your experiences with Jet Hot was completely different than mine. I wonder
why ? Was it because Steve was the actual name associated with your pipes
and the warranty was not transferable or they simply could not find your
account for warranty ?

I had Jet Hot coat the exhaust system for my Rotax 503. Within just a few
months, small bits of rust appeared throughout the whole surface of the
coating. I know little about the process, but it looked like they didn't do a
good job of prepping (cleaning?) before applying the coating. Given t
Steve Bennett had the exhaust coated with Jet Hot when he put the engine in my
plane and it's held up everywhere except where the crossover pipes come
together. I keep a coat of hi-temp paint on the small area that's affected.

H, hasn't been a problem with my pipes. I put cabin heat in last
winter (and love it!). I put a shroud along the pipe that runs back from
the left front cylinder -
I used Jet Hot on the exhaust that is on the VW engine that I happen to have
up for sale. I can tell you that the exhaust external temperature is far
less than without the coating and the exhausts are still in good condition
after many years.
