I believe that they are made from aluminum and most, if not all are hand made by the builder. They are probably going into a nut plate. If you need to re-make them, then that may give you enough reason to cut a little area of glass out and take a look. Putting the glass back is easy. You may also w

Steve, you whole airplane is homemade, built by an amateur. Make a new part, and bolt it on, but not too tight. Use aircraft bolts with head drilled, and safety wire them. We use aluminum, 'cause it's lighter. Ron Freiberger mail to ronandmartha at earthlink.net
