I believe that they are made from aluminum and most, if not all are hand made by the builder. They are probably going into a nut plate. If you need to re-make them, then that may give you enough reason to cut a little area of glass out and take a look. Putting the glass back is easy. You may also want to replace them with the Dr. Dean type hinges, but it is not necessary.
