Bob,
Bob,
In Canada , you need to have the data plate installed permanently ( with the C
of R letters on it) before your final inspection by MD-RA.
The EAA data plate works great if you just trim off "Experimental" on the top
line. Rivet it onto the fuselage side under the stab.

You know If you live in El Paso Texas it is the only place you go east to be
in West Texas. Everyone says Midland Odessa is west Texas and they are east of
El Paso.

Well Ed, it would be for curiosity. The new engine went in just under
700 hours ago.

Mike,
I think we've confused you a bit. Three things are required - the name IS
necessary (original builder - not necessarily the current owner), the model,
and the plane's serial number. Address not required or any other stuff.
And yes!, be sure to re-weigh, for your own safety, as
Thanks to those of you who responded with answers to my questions about
data plate sources and updating. I see in looking that Aircraft Spruce
has them too.

Mike,
This is a question that should go to your local FSDO, which often times
gets a different answer depending on the FSDO Office. When a friend did
a major rebuild of his Hummelbird (yes, the one that made it to several
gatherings), he changed nearly everything about the plane including

When Steve Bennett bought my KR-1½ from Ken Cottle, he replaced the HAPI
1835 with one of his own 2180's and put the Ellison EFS-2 on the top
instead of on the bottom, where Ken had put it. He also got

I believe the context was that Perry was the "farthest West" that the fly-in
has been held, referring to the West coordinates...

Mike,
If you want to change the data plate, all the information required is just
four things - the builder's name, registration number ("N" number), Model
and serial number.

And just where does one get data plates anyway?
Aircraft Spruce and Wicks would have them.
Not sure if this helps, BUT
In Australia you would need to change the details as per the NEW CofA you
would most likely need for all the changes.

Ok, Ok everyone . . . whew. I do now have it firmly in my head that the
2009 Gathering will be at MVN starting on 9/18. I have corrected myself
with Mike Fox and Lonnie Prince.
As for next year, Perry, OK sure seems like an attractive alternative
since Mike has offerred to provide hanger space
