Ive been running a aero carb for two years around a 100 hours on my 2180 VW .
Its worked pretty good untill the other day.On short final went to add power
and it locked up at idle. Thank god I was high and made the runway ok.

For Aero Carb users. I just got mine installed and the engine started
without any adjustments. It does need much adjustment, however. The
problem that I am having is that the throttle will not stay where I put it.
It keeps closing and actually requires a bit of force to keep it open.

Yes, it is a friction lock, but it does not seem that a carb should be
closing the venturi, all by itself, even against some force. My concern is
that if I lock it down and then need to react to a situation, I won't be
able to.

I have not had this problem- but I have a push button vernier cable so it
is always locked. I know that others have had this cable and removed it.
I feel just the opposite. At idle I can give it a turn or 2 to adjust
idle and the push button lock seems completely natural to me and has from

I tightened up the friction lock so it requires a bit of force to move the
throttle and that seems to have stopped the carb from sucking the slide,
closed. I think that we may want to add a light WOT spring, just in case.

I know of four people using or have used the aero carb and all of them
ended up with the third needle in to get it to run right
