The KR-2 that I am refurbishing has an interesting rats nest of plumbing
around the fuel pump. Fuel comes from the header tank to the gascolator then
out
to a tee. One line runs to the fuel pump, the other to another tee and on to
the carb, coming out of the fuel pump the line runs to that
The KR-2 which I am resurrecting has what looks like an original VW breather
cap with a safety wire internally to keep it on. [mushroom looking cap]
Is this acceptable or should I replace it with something else? This is also
where oil will be added.

I'm supposed to have yellow/violet and have yellow/brown in the strobe kit.
If you have been following the thread about the wrong resistors in the kit,
there were also two capacitors that did not correspond with the parts list.
Well, after assembling it with the parts provided as best as I could, IT
DOESN'T WORK. Although I'm not an electrical nut, I did wiring and
Jeff--Email me and I'll give you my address. I'll send the strobe to

Jeff---It comes with a schematic and a pictorial layout. I will
check the solder joints again, and if it still does not work, I will send it

Thanks Jeff, I'm looking into it.

NickI would be glad to let you sit in my KR-2, but I think you will be
happier with the KR-2S. I live in Palm Springs Cal, not that far from you. Let
me know if you want to see it, it's in the middle of a rebuild but in one
piece.

I ordered a Great Plains Strobe kit, It came with three resistors of which
two have slightly different values than the instructions call for. The
instructions call for a 470K and a 47K, the kit contains a 410K and a 41K. Can
anyone tell me if this will make a difference in the operation of t
Thanks Ron---Mike
I looked very carefully at the resistors, one was yellow-brown-yellow and
the other was yellow-brown-orange. If the brown was violet, you would never
know it. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Ok,inside the Diehl case is a Dynamo, the 3 wires coming out are going to a
small aluminum plate. One wire goes from that up into the instrument area to
the power bus. It appears that the aluminum plate item must be a rectifier,
but I do not see a regulator, just a shielded wire from the rec

One lister made a comment stating that with a large header tank only,
"setting up" for a refueling stop during a XC could be
hazardous/interesting/???, I
don't remember the exact word. Are we referring to change in C/L or
sloshing of fuel in the tank or what?

My KR-2 has the engine mount spools moving the engine forward, does anyone
make a cowl to fit KR's with this mod? The original cowl was destroyed while
off of the plane for engine work.

My VW engine has a Diehl rear case with starter and Slick Mag. I do not see
an alternator anywhere, but coming out of the middle of the Diehl case are
three wires. They go to a little aluminum plate in the engine compartment

Unfortunately, I have a single ignition system using the 4216. I think it
is well worth my time and $$$ to either get a second system or change to the
4316. Thanks for the info.

My RV-4 and Kitfox had elevator pushrods instead of cables. The pushrod was
about 1 1/4 inch in diameter and used balljoint [heim] ends. There was a
tapered aluminum part that the balljoint screwed into and was then riveted to
the
tubing. Anyone know where those can be bought other than Van
Everything I've read on here about the 4216 is not good. The KR-2 that I'm
restoring has one, the last owner says it worked fine. Should I trash it and
buy a 4316 or what?

I am also interested in the water cooled heads, I had a Rotax 912 in my

on the ramp. Anyone out there have any info?

I can't thank everyone that responded enough for all the help, I will buy a
shunt to match my ammeter and get on with my wiring. A lot of stuff is coming
back to me now that you've dusted the cobwebs off my brain.
Thanks again-Mike
I need a wiring diagram for a KR, can anyone help?
Mike
EXCELLENT! Thank you very much---Mike
The problem is that the wiring was all disconnected to replace the
instrument panel, the wires were not marked for where they go. I have
experience
having built a Kitfox, but my memory is rusty. Thanks for the
help-Mike
That's basically what I'm doing, I just needed a little help with some
wiring.

Luckily I was able to remove the aluminum gas tank from my KR-2, now I can
really get at the wiring problem. Except for the electric elevator trim wiring
and the intercom, it should be a snap.
By the way, I have 600+ hours in a Kitfox taildragger, and
several hours in an RV-
If I remember this correctly, there needs to be a shunt in the electrical
system either internal in the ammeter or between the master switch and
ammeter.
See, this is where I'm rusty and need help with wiring. My ammeter doesn't
have an internal shunt, so I need an external one-right?
Hi, My name is Mike and I'm a new KR-2 owner with lots of questions, but I
will read the daily postings and look at others KR sites to learn as much as I
can before going crazy with questions. I built a Kitfox in "94" and then
almost completed an RV-4 last year. I'm tired of building and wan
