My VW engine has a Diehl rear case with starter and Slick Mag. I do not see an alternator anywhere, but coming out of the middle of the Diehl case are three wires. They go to a little aluminum plate in the engine compartment about the size of a credit card only thicker. One wire, a shielded one, goes from this unit into the instrument area. Can someone explain what I have, is there some sort of alternator inside the Diehl case?
