If the pilot was in the left seat then wasn't cg left of center?
Would that give the right wing the longer distance to cg than the left wing?
Longer arm = higher torque from lift on that side?
Also the original landing gear design (in retracted mode) make the space
between gear to spar attachmen

It must have been a very high energy impact! I have heard the theory that
he was flung from the plane before impact as there must have been quite a
violent spin/roll due to the one wing being gone and the plane at high
speed when it seperated.
