Hi Tommy,
I was upgrading my 1835 cc (92mm) hapi engine to have dual plugs and larger
valves and ran into delivery problems with 3 suppliers.
I finally got a set from Great Plains but then got billed for heads from a
custom VW aftermarket shop MOFOCO.com when they delivered late. They are

Tommy,
I had a set which showed the same compression issue and had cracks. I had them
reconditioned by a local engine shop. They said the cracks we common in VW
heads and not a huge issue. They only lasted another 100 hours before the
compression dropped again and I had them replaced with new.
And you all can send those cracked heads to me ; )

Thanks to John Bouyea the Gathering web page is operational.
Go to www.krnet.org and click on the Gathering link on the top of

to register when I will have more info and
There is no telling how deep that crack between the intake and exhaust valves.
It's time for a new cylinder head.

My first engine in my kr was a hapi. Crank broke at about 65 hrs. Prop left the
plane. Funny feeling. Made it to a pasture.

Unless you come in under about 525 empty a 65 horse is not enough. I am one
that believes more hp more speed. I built my kr for speed. Weighed 480 at first
flight. 1836 65hp. Then 2180 75hp. After 6 engine failures ( i ran them wide

Matt,
Yes, I used the Aircraft Spruce KR2 canopy on my KR2S. Photos are on my web
site on the "Finishing" page, but I didn't note a lot of detail. I installed it
exactly per plans instructions.

on my KR-2S as I made my fuselage 5" wider than stock. There service is great
and their canopies are well made.

Hey all, I?m about ready to purchase a canopy and get the top half of this boat
shaped. I really like the way those Dragonfly canopies look, but they don?t
seem to be available anymore. Three questions:
1. Has anyone used the Aircraft Spruce KR2 canopy, and do you have pictures?
What about other
