KR> Folding wings

Belly flap, is not in the true sense, a flap. As I understand it, a flap will give you lift and drag and a belly flap/belly board/speed brake, just gives you drag. It is good to give you a better view of the runway without picking up too much speed. With flaps, you will get both, but from the re

Hello After doing some high speed taxi tests including some (runway) flights I have found the following updates to be done. Some for cosmetic value and some for comfort and safety . These are being done as evidently the original builder was shorter than I my 5'7". Raising the cano

I completely agree with Marks statements. I had another home built that used spring taper pins..fairly quick and easy to remove but still kept the Sonerai 2 at the airport to avoid eventual wear and tear as well as the inevitable rash and mishaps involved in towing not to mention the real possibili

The reason for the previous questions I'm trying to decide on a plans build I'm in Australia (not that is relevant) I'm limited to 1/Limited funds SO I would need to buy materials as I could afford them (so a kit is out of the question) 2/Plans would preferably be in Metric 3/Two seater (Canno

Hi Neville, There's no perfect aircraft, sadly. I'm in a similar position to you - can't put down a big wad of cash for a kit. I have heard talk of a folding wing mod for the KR but never seen any details. I'd proceed on the basis that the KR needs to live at an airport, not in the garage.

Hi Neville, There are several KR2S variants under construction in Oz. I'm in Qld, but there are some closer to you - e.g. Phil Matheson at Finley NSW. Yes, you can build a KR2S from scratch from the plans, although there are some websites in the KR community that will make the journey a lot ea

KR> Removable/Foldable Wings?

2013-12-01 Thread Dan Heath
I was thinking about this yesterday. If I had a plane that had removable or "fold in" wings, where would I go to fly it and how time consuming would it be to go flying for an hour or two? Around here, we have Columbia Metropolitan Airport, Columbia Downtown Airport, Lexington County Airport, and

The folding wing rumor came from a guy several years ago who said he'd solved the problem. He built a mockup and sent it to Ray, who eventually sent it to me. It didn't pass my "reasonable" test for a viable folding wing solution. It was flimsy, and even if beefed up, was essentially a simpl

Neville, welcome to the forum and Of course you can build a KR from plans only. Many of us have gone that route. I find it a chore to routinely remove the wings from a KR only because you must tow it home after each flight. Not difficult but simply a pain in the neck! When you only have
