Question. Is it normal to have rubber pads (about 1/8 inch thick) between
the engine mount and the firewall?

Hello everyone, I have a set of KR-2 plans that I no longer find use for. I am
selling them at $100.00 firm. They are in Great shape and have never been
used.
Mr wade
There should not be anything between the mount and the firewall. The
movement will wear out the mounting holes and you may end up with a big
problem. The rubber mounting between the engine and the mounting should be
enough to dampen vibration to the airframe.

Having now checked everything after the overturn, I'm soon to start
reassembling the engine mount / engine to the airframe.
My aircraft has rubber pads between the engine mount and the firewall. These
have hardened and split and obviously must be replaced . or discarded.
Question. Is it nor

What you are looking for is called rotary swaging. Aircraft Spruce sells the
tool, a "Kearney Swager" for $6,397.00, and then you still need to load test
the cable after making it. Aircraft Spruce will also make up "custom-made cable
assemblies". An eye, fork or stud at one end and bare w

Upon further inspection, and research, seems there is no need for these
fittings on my plane. There is plenty of room/clearance for shackles
thimbles and sleeves...so no worries. I'll just add them to my Wicks
listI live maybe 15 minutes from them...:)

Most large aircraft repair FBO's will have the swage tool and dies or know
where to get it done.
It's important to measure the fitting after swaging to ensure enough crush
pressure was used with a micrometer. Or have them pull tested to ensure
strength is met.
