I think that scale used in this way is a ratio and has no units, so
units as a hint is not appropriate. Units is probably too generic
anyway since the scale calculation assumes meters.

Hi Uwe,
This should have been fixed in the nightly build.

Was this a problem with the layout code of the schema panel? Is this a
common problem when switching between look and feels?

Paul,
What do we need to do to correct this error? Should we delete the
"trunk" directory that was placed under the branch?
Let me know if I need to do any clean-up or admin on the SVN
repository, and thanks for pointing this out.

This is a very important topic, so please allow me to make some comments.
I agree with the other speakers on this thread, user support,
especially for people that speak languages other than English, could
use some improvement.
Here is what I would suggest:

I second that. Please ignore my earlier e-mail on this Paul. I didn't

it.

I added Michael's comments to the bug tracker, although it looks like

Would it be better to see if we can get a volunteer translator for
each language we want to support in OpenJUMP and coordinate with them
to maintain the properties files for each language when new entries
are made?
I wonder if this system would be better than "half-supported"
languages in OpenJUMP
Michael,
What did you mean when you said "My experience is that it is more
confusing not to be able to snap points (snapping linestrings and
polygons works just fine) than to have points snapped on another one."
To what "another one" do you refer? A point on the grid, or a node on
a feature geome
I think SIGLE did some work with image support before. I wonder if
they can comment on this.
I also wonder what the UDig team is using for image support. Maybe
I'll bounce an e-mail of their list to see if I can find out. I always

This tool uses
image stretching to simulate the zoom before it occurs for an accurate

Is this in the SVN, or do we need to download a plug-in?

Larry,
I have to ask a really dumb rookie progammer question now. You wrote:
"As you might have noticed, JUMP code tends not to create many
variables. With threading, there is actually some justification for
this."
What affect does variable creation have on threaded programs?

Will the Pirol team allow us to make the changes to their code if they

Hi Sunburned,
I have been in touch with Michael who has no much time to work on
Pirol's plugin as he leaved the project. But he told me that he will try
to make the change and that another guy will come on september.
We can wait a little to see if Pirol's plugin is updated, or I can add

Consider the following code (won't compile just for example) that does
some complex operation on a layer and then loops through the features in
the layer after it is processed. This is actually a counter argument to
what Larry was suggesting.

Why don't we add the method back with the deprecated tag. We can put a
comment in the source code file stating that the method can be removed
when the Pirol team makes the needed changes.

Hi Stefan,
I tried the Setup-openjump12d.exe (nice looking installer), but I
couldn't get past the "OpenJump uses Java 1.5, it will now be
downloaded and installed" prompt. I don't want to download since I
already have Java 1.5 and Java 1.6 installed. Can you make this step
optional?

Hi SS,
Nothing profound, just that in general, it isn't really a good idea
to grab and hold onto object references that might be changed
elsewhere. It doesn't really apply to the specific case that Paul was
talking about. As you know from fixing OJ bugs, the biggest thread

Thanks for the clarification Larry and Paul. I'm very grateful that I
have the opportunity to learn from programmers of your skill level. To
me, this is one of the greatest benefits of open source development.
