I'm working in oracle and our orcale server in on
sun solaris machine so sometimes i have to work.
I dont know much abt solaris but i've good experience on
unix and linux.
one person here used $su -u user_name
then i asked him that why u use -u

I think Sandip has already answered your query in a
better way as far as Linux is concerned. Be it
Solaris, Unix or Linux, there is much similarities
between them. Irrespective of whichever flavour you
are using, you can learn about various nuances of the
uses of a particular command by using the

authentication is done by scripts or one in which you can use PPP itself to
negotiates authentication?
Some ISPs require you start ppp by hand. Some allow ppp to start automatically

Put "debug kdebug 7" in th /etc/ppp/options file. That should produce
sufficient debuging information in the logs [/var/log/messages, /var/log/secure]
as to why the peer is disconnecting the connection.
Post snippets from the logs after turning on this debugging - then
