Where are you trying to connect to? Which ISP? Does it have a server in which authentication is done by scripts or one in which you can use PPP itself to negotiates authentication? Some ISPs require you start ppp by hand. Some allow ppp to start automatically aftr you manually go through password

Ashutosh, Put "debug kdebug 7" in th /etc/ppp/options file. That should produce sufficient debuging information in the logs [/var/log/messages, /var/log/secure] as to why the peer is disconnecting the connection. Post snippets from the logs after turning on this debugging - then we'll have enoug
