My cable wallah ISP is a distributor of hotwire only as even this mail headers would show ... but the last mile problems remain ... becauze of their screwed up setup sometimes I get 200kbps in the night ... and sometimes none at all ... why dont these ppl understand that getting less speed more

I know that this is for ppl in east delhi, but here in South Delhi (GK & C.R Park area) We have Hotwire which imho is a very decent ISP for an average home user. I pay around Rs. 1500 per month for a 64k/16k link with a real ip that is set as a static IP on my machine. The backend bw was quite good

Dear Tarun, I had used DSL with this setup about two years ago. I had also had the squid+cache configured. It worked fine. Only prob was the thruput of the 128 KBPS DSL was worse than a 64 KBPS ISDN. So I had to discontinue. You can also try LRP or Freesco if you are short of hardware :)
