Actually, my experience is that even if you have the latest slib you may
still have problems if it is not installed in the right place (or at
least a link to /usr/share/guile/slib -> /usr/share/slib).

There are 2 ways to deal with this.
1. There is a patch for this, but it requires you to build off the
development CVS tree. I was not able to get the patch to build just
didn't have enough time to play more with it (though am going to).
2. The other option is to install lesstif0.88 (instead of
