I ran into this also ... if you uninstall lesstif.0.89.? and
build/install lesstif.0.88.1 everything should work smoothly. The
alternative is to use Dave's patches, or use the Gnome version. In
either case, you need to get the development release from the CVS tree.
There are instructions in the README file for the version you are
using. It seems that the Gnome version is getting pretty close to
better than the Motif version.
