Hallo I am new on this list. I have a Linux system on my thinkPad 390
there are some problems with Linux sound and that laptop series. I
have made the laptop play sound on the Linux sys with sb-16 but I can
not record sound. Now want to try with freedos. I have installed the
one floppy odin system.
I've the same problem with usb drivers
Devload \h C:\usb\usbaspi.sys
devload \h C:\usb\usbcd.sys
All the drivers remain in low memory.

Hi everybody,
I have a fun suggestion for a DOS driver for all sorts
of mouse and touchpad and similar devices, but I would
first want to know which devices are actually in use out
there today, so please let me know what you use - unless
it is a "boring" PS2 mouse with max 3 buttons and 1 wheel.
Hi again,
well if you can compile devload at all (you need tasm or
the free arrowasm "asm", www.dunfield.com/downloads.htm )
then you can help yourself with a patch / workaround:
mov bx,0fffh; never desire > 64k of UMBs
Change this line to use 3ffh instead of 0fffh,
wow! thanks for the lengthy reply, Eric :)
ye, it sounds like an inherent problem of devload. i've tried many other memory
managers with identical results (qhimem, himemx, himem, with and without
UMBPCI/EMM386 etc). as it stands, my machine assembly is a bit rusty from
university so it's unlik
Hi!
Hmmm you could try japheth.de jemm instead of
xmgr umbpci lowdma ;-). Or try himemx plus
jemm386, more classic than jemm, same page.
Problem is that devload asks DOS for the highest
location which has 64k, without checking how much
your driver really needs: It is sys, no exe header
so "needs

i cannot for the life of me get devload to function using the /H
switch. whenever i try to load a device into UMB, it always dumps the
device into conventional ra

Are you sure, you've read the web site?

The mode command is not understood in the version of FreeDos that I'm running.

Use the "mode comX baud=" command:

I remember that it was possible in MS-DOS, it was even required when installing
