Make sure you have:
gnome_enable="YES"
in /etc/rc.conf, otherwise the login manager will not start by default,
and you will have to manually run 'startx' to

to destroy the old partition table: gpart destroy -F ada0
And then create a new one. I am not sure what is wrong with the old one.
If you would like to try to figure it out:
gpart show ada0
gpart backup ada0
And provide those for us to look at.

currently, a fresh install has no /etc/rc.conf file at all, then
bsdinstall adds a few lines to it if you configured networking or ZFS etc.

I can't make puppet include denyhosts_enable="YES" in /etc/rc.conf.d/sshd
But, a /usr/local/etc/rc.conf.d/ could be used to enable-on-install, if
we wanted to lean in that direction. I am a little divided on that. I
don't like the fact that linux enables stuff by default as soon as you
install it.
