1 is true but 2 is not true. IF P8 encodes the TX/RX status. If you had read

As for the SteppIr discussion, I am curious. For those who control a SteppIR
from a K3 or K4, how well does it work in split mode? The best test would be
for a SteppIR that does 40 meters

I had an interesting off-list email exchange with Jack, W7FB. That caused me
to run a test on a KX3 that I am borrowing. My tests indicate that a KX3 does
not change the frequency encoded in the IF word for the RX/TX transition. It
continues to send the RX frequency.

I have an older K3 that has been upgraded to a K3S with the output power
modification for the P3. All this works, but I find that when I turn on the
radio and then transmit on 20 m, the first TX is always about 1/2 power
compared to the second and all future TX episodes. This only seems to happe
