If I boot the laptop on battery then attach a mains supply the popping
usually stops, but not always. If I remove and then re-add the mains

The 14.04.2 live CD fails for other reasons but with an "apt-get

No, I'm in Precise and had fglrx-updates installed. Ran a dist-upgrade and now
it doesn't work.
Purged that and installed fglrx and the problem has gone away.
The older version of fglrx-updates added... I don't know but it reported
my graphics card correctly when using glxinfo, fglrx doesn't.

Yeah, no change. Trusty seems to add an option for RDP but there doesn't
seem to be an option for XDMCP unless it is provided via a plug-in?

Well, this starts every time for me now.
Architecture: amd64
Version: 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4.3
Changelog doesn't show anything obvious that may have changed this so
the problem may have been related to another package.

Unfortunately we can't simply add -dUseCIEColor to the 'PDFSETTINGS' (as
has been suggested previously) because the PDFSETTINGS are a collection
of distiller parameters, and UseCIEColor is a PostScript parameter.
I still hope to get proper colour management for pdfwrite into the next
release, and
I do not understand why this is marked as fixed in Precise when it
clearly is not. There's not even a backport available.
