Updated from kubuntu 18.10 to 19.04 beta without problems. After first
reboot, first the kubuntu logo, then just a blank screen, no login
screen. Switching to console and log in there possible. All seems fine,
including wlan etc.
systemd status sddm says sddm is running, any
Disco's release is the 18 April and the next version, 6.2.3, of
LibreOffice is 15-21 April.
Currently no one has been assigned to solve this problem and when this
happens, I hope that person can "Pull a Rabbit out of a Hat" and quickly
solve the problem.
In the meantime, I have LibreOffice 6.1.4.

Same problem there, also Dell M4800, I am using latest ubuntu 18.10 and it was
working until I installed latest nvidia-driver-418. I do not why. There is
suspicious message in dmesg.
(If I uninstall the nvidia driver it is still not working and reinstalling of
alsa-driver also did not help.)

oh one thing I noticed and did not mention .. the plymouth screen fails
to appear (just a redish flash at top of screen) when booting from a
non-native grub for the recent daily xubuntu iso's if the native grub
is used plymouth screen appears..
for sda1 boot from any grub a plymouth screen appear
Syncing Ubuntu usb_modeswitch is hardly possible because it's a fork of
the original, using a C implementation of the wrapper script.
I'd just throw out anything that's related to module loading and driver
binding.
