When searching by typing, which only searches in the current directory, hidden files are now selected. This would maybe be fine except that there's no feedback that a hidden file has been selected. Normally, if a file exists it's selected and nautilus will scroll to its location. If it's hidden, it seems like it doesn't scroll to its location. So if you want a file that does exist, but there's also a hidden file that begins the same way, there's no feedback that any file named what you want exists in that folder. As a practical example, gedit automatically saves the previous version of a file to "<name~" when one is saved, which is a hidden file. When sorted by modification date, that older file will come first, and automatically typing will not indicate that the desired, non-hidden file exists, although it can still be selected by scrolling after typing.
