the big chunk is "[heap]" currently sitting on 367MiB.

So, I've done a bit of research today, and this seems to be a
combination of flash, firefox, and the nvidia binary driver.
- All versions of flash 10 work properly

Sebastien, it's hard to tell; I have nautilus painting the desktop, so
it's always "in use". I don't have a solid opinion about this, but yes,
it *seems* to happen ALWAYS, but worse when there is a lot of nautilus
use.
I am using kupfer, yes... but there is no nautilus plugin, so if Kupfer

opened was maximized or wasn't. Instead, if it was maximized, its window
fills the screen. In the Unity desktop environment, this makes window
control buttons not to be placed in the task-bar.

I also have similar problems with my HP 2710p running Linux Mint 12 Gnome
Shell.
It shows one battery at boot and two batteries after 1st suspend and continues
until reboot.
Gnome shell shows 1st battery on 100 % or whatever and 2nd battery at 0 %.
This causes warnings of critically low battery
