maybe the answer is to add a gui to gnome-app-install with a check box by all

adding contextual menu item seems like a work around. the item should
not show up on all files. if this is done at a deeper level it could be
done better. for example you don't need to be super user to open a
system config file, so you should only be asked for them when you try to
save it.

looks like you set the image as the panel background. the image is lable
screenshot so i assum that the top of it contains a gnome panel. now you have a
screenshot of gnome panel set as the background of gnome panel.
right click on the panel and choose properties, not go to the background tab.

you missed a step. focus stealling is only prevented if you focus a window
while you waiting for something to load.
1.- Launch GNOME terminal
2.- Launch Epiphany.
3.- The Epiphany window appears on top of GNOME terminal as expected.
4.- Select the GNOME terminal window.
5.- Launch a new instance
step 4 in my above post is unecissary sorry.

this sounds like it could be a feauture called "Focus stealing prevention" or
possibly a bug in gksu
please can read Bug #41623 and Bug #31487 and check that it is neither of those.

it seems you are right. though it does not happen every time.
i wonder if this is to do with the second instance of firefox spots that
firefox is running already and tells the first one to open a new window.

and attach the file metacity-gconf that it creates
