Ok, I tried this and I am now running the laptop for about 2 days
(including putting it to sleep).
Only disabling those extensions did not help when I tried before.
Uninstalling those extensions prevents the unworkable behavior but I do

media keys to reduce/increase volume (that might just be a coincidence

Problem:
Trash can on desktop appears empty (by Icon), activating window shows files but
the "empty button" is greyed out
Trash can as applet shows FULL! (by icon), but activating windo
I wouldn't post this bug if I had the option, would I? I had it before

I'm seeing the same with gnome-control-center 1:2.22.1-0ubuntu4 on
Hardy, using the Generic 105-key (Intl) PC keyboard layout on a Toshiba
Portege R500.
Mod4+e, Mod4+f, and Mod4+l do not work (regardless of what action is
assigned to them). All other Mod4+keys (Mod4+r, Mod4+d, etc) _do_ work.

I can confirm this bug. It started after copying some MP3 files. Ever
since then I get the "to many files opened" error message while doing
simple browsing with nautilus.

Same problem here: sometimes it shows up immedeatly, like it should. But most
of the times I have to wait for about one minute.
Should be fixed before Gutsy is being released.

I agree with making F-Spot the default for importing photos and removing
gThumb from the CD. Just let F-spot act as the photo management
application and, let Eye of GNOME be used for image viewing. Having two
applications for photo management, both F-Spot and gThumb, is
unnecessary duplication and
nainu, thank you for your comment. Disabling the "desktop effects" and
disabling "AddARGBGLXVisuals" (not sure if both are necessary or just
disabling desktop effects is enough) in my xorg.conf allowed me to log
in normally to the "GNOME" session.
