Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
New mail is not shown in my 'inbox' folder though incoming mail redirected to other folders using the evolution filter system is fine. The 'Unread mail' folder lists all mail that is stored in all my folders. When new mail arrives which is not automatically filtered into a preset folder it triggers a warning beep but the message 'disappears'. Filtered mail is handled correctly. I can only assume that the database underlying evolution is seriously corrupt. I am using UBUNTU 8.10 on an AMD-64bit hardware system I recently attempted twice to update my version of Ubuntu from 8.10 to 9.04 using the regular update facility provided by Ubuntu. Both attempts were a disaster and I had to revert to version 8.10 from a source disk. The attempted update may have been the source of the problem but I cannot be certain. I do have backup of the mail from end of April. Where can I find instructions to remove the current evolution system including all the stored mail, diary, etc data and then reinstall evolution completely? Reinstall presumably uses the conventional Synaptic SW Manager scheme.
