I can confirm this bug: with Ubuntu Hardy Kernel Linux 2.6.24-19-generic GNOME 2.22.3
Latest updates installed Problem: Trash can on desktop appears empty (by Icon), activating window shows files but the "empty button" is greyed out Trash can as applet shows FULL!
