Hi Mke E. I noticed after trying Kubuntu that when one switches user,
it opens another "VT" with another X server to that other user. For
example, lets say user "Joe" is logged-in usuallyand has locked the
screen. Then user "Sarah" arrives and activates the "Switch User"
button, then KDM appears
Doesn't seem to do it anymore, probably a temporary glitch. Thanks for

implementation in GTK, but looking much nicer.
I'm using 50% opaque foreground colour for normal colouring, and 100%

@ Pedro: I think gnome-panel doesn't "refresh" the icons fast enough, so
I checked it this way: I changed to normal human-theme and did "killall
gnome-panel" which caused gnome-panel to reload. Icons weren't blurry
then. I changed back to brownlooks and did "killall gnome-panel" again.

should not be registered in the session if it should not be started or
the binary should just return when the gconf key is set so the session
start it, the server look at the key and return and there is nothing
running when not
The problem is that the code currently checks only for the currently
configured wm, but not the running one:

OK, I uninstall the ATI-Driver and try fglrx.
At last: I uninstalled totem at terminal and installed package: 'totem'
and 'totem-gstreamer'. Totem not crashed at play a song-file, but is a
green timber at the visualization. When a play a movie the picture is
jerking.

Ok, so if I understand this correctly, it's rather about a bad
resolution being used (a virtual resolution that differs from the
physical), than a problem with entries in GDM?
Could you first try:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
If that doesn't help, please post your xorg.conf?

I think this really is a bug in vte, since I can see this on feisty with
nvidia binary driver, but only on a terminal that is running screen on
another computer (Tru64). There is something wrong in the way the
terminal is refreshed, since I also get corruption on a screen window
which is running ir

please tell us a few easy steps to reproduce the bug? also please try to
get a backtrace with the following instructions:

I wasn't using XGL. Simply having it installed was enough to keep me
from being able to login. I've dong a dpkg --purge xserver-xgl, and can
now log in as expected. I was also logging in to display 0, not 1.
