Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

It happens only with compiz. The terminal window does not fill up the
entire screen area (except the panel area, of course) when maximized.
The gaps are clearly visible on left & right ends of the window. Even
the borders on left/right ends are missing.
