Hello,
you must disable hal-devel when running configure or it will break xorg
when hal get's de-installed by someone who doesn't want his linux to

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.5+2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system
I upgraded yesterday my debian squeeze and after that xserver stops responding
and only a blank screen is seen. I had to cold boot the system (CTRL+ALT+BkSp
doesn't work).
Using a Toshiba Tecra 8000
change a thing and synclient reports those values as activated and set
up properly.

Let's try a new bug. If they are the same they can be merged later on.
But you can mention this one.

Answering to myself: This is a known regression and the patch can be
found at [1] which is also attach

this with xdpyinfo it says 96dpi or whatever alse is the standard. Only
if I use a hard setted value in my xdm config I can get the correct
settings.

said that it's still a kde related bug. I think it should be closed by now.
Many thanks for the provided help
