It would really help if 4.3.0-pre1v4 or some other working version could be made available somewhere until this is resolved.

Upgrading from 4.3.0-pre1v4 to 4.3.0-pre1v5 also killed X for me.
Starting X fails with no clear error message. (Signal 11 after reloading
libddc?) I'm also using the 2.6 kernel (2.6.2-rc3 currently, but I've
tried several 2.6.x kernels) and the i810 video driver (I have a 855GM
chipset).
