maybe a newer kernel would help, there was some drm/dri merge somewhere
in 2.4.23 or 2.4.24 ?

to be sure, that it's not the same as bug #229984 - could you mail the

Hi all,
I've made some fixed xfree-4.3.0-2.cg.1 packages available at
http://rphlx1.uni-r.de, because older, working packages from
experimental aren't available anymore.
These contain fixes to resolve 3D DRI issues on i386 hardware (patch
already in XSF svn) and fixes to i810 driver for i865G c

I've sent some patches to fix this problem to Branden, which he
currently reviews.
stay tuned.

Dear Branden,
I spent some hours with fiddling latest changes of UPSTREAM's i830.h and
i830_driver.c into xfree86-4.3.0-2 to get some machines with Intel's
865G chip working again.
Well, it seems I've succeeded.
Basically, what i've done is merge a
After some tests with different kernels (2.6.3, 2.4.25-1(debian package),
2.4.25 (plain kernel.org), we found out, that disabling the agpgart modules
(e.g. by renaming it) prevented the Xserver from segfaulting at startup on
different machines with i865G chipset.

I also can't get X to work with a Dell Optiplex GX270 (i865G),
(xfree86_4.3.0-pre1v4 _did_ work).
I just tried xserver-xfree86-dbg, and it fails with:

First, many thanks to all involved in finally getting XFree86 4.3.0 into
unstable!
Well, DRI is broken after an upgrade from 4.3.0-0pre1v5 to 4.3.0-2.
Downgrading xlibmesa-dri to 4.3.0-0pre1v5 works around this problem.
The following output of glxinfo may b
Hallo,
this is just a minor issue:
I'd like to know if it's possible to disable mouse coursor's shadow in
xfree-4.3, or even better, to make the coursor behave like in previous X
versions?
thanks in advance

Hi,
sorry for causing noise on the list. Yeah I know, Ralf's XFree 4.3 woody
backports are not supported in any way, but maybe someone of you could
give me a hint to solve my Problems.
I testet X 4.3 debs from Ralf, and they seem to run stable. However, I
have some bad fonts when it comes to maple
