U can simply copy the config file to .config in the src directory and
then run xconfig or menuconfig or oldconfig.
I run menuconfig and the 'Load Alternative config file' and enter

AFAIK gnome and gnome-destktop-environment are just meta packages to
simplify installation, and removing them will not remove Gnome. If it
did there would be more than 2 files to remove :).

Have you tried changing the Keyboard layout in KDE. Control Centre should

u should see an error saying something like
'bootlogd: ioctl (/dev/ttyzf, TIOCCONS): Bad file descriptor '. I have yet

management then right click on the drive and select format and FAT32 in the
drop down list. Of course you'll have to have admin privilidges on your PC

tgear router which allows me to assign fixed LAN addressess
to my connected PC's so they always get the same address no matter which
order they are switched on. This may help you, or it may not :),
check the router manual.

ebian. May be worth a try to see if it gets you up and running
quicker, then you can apt-get the rest of the stuff.
I only use the forcedeth module now, as you need to reinstall the nvnet
driver every time you switch kernels/recompile.

in /etc/apt/preferences (again may need to create)
This should prevent unstable packages being given the same, or higher
priority as testing.

AFAIK this will only work if the 'origin' flag is set on the package
from linex.
