I mentioned this earlier in the thread, because this is exactly what I
used on my home network originally. I bought a patch cable and a
crossover adapter so that I could add a router later on without
replacing the cable, it went under floors etc. Of course it wireless
now :).
I may even have the adapter lying about somewhere, if the OP is UK based
I would gladly post it to them, although it would probably be cheaper to
buy one locally if overseas.
