I take it that you have set up your X window system?
If so, you can manually make an .xinitrc in your home directory
and just enter one lin
All that you have to do, is go to your home directory, and type this command
echo 'gnome-session' > ~/.xinitrc
It's ok that the file is not there, this will make it. That should do it, if
X is properly configured (sounds like it is, if you can get twm up and going)

i tried to put the 2.4.5 kernel on my debian 2.2r3.
Here is what i've done :
make config
make
make bzImage
then copy the arch/i386/boot/bzImage to my root directory. I configured
lilo etc etc.
But when i request to start on th
i went to install powershell today and i got this. my immediate
response was the the md5 check sum must not have matched (apt does that
now ... right?). but it installed anyway... wtf?
if it's going to get an error shouldn't it abort?

What is the vga setting in your lilo.conf file? I had something similar happen
to me, and all it was was that I had vga=788 in the .conf file, but forgot to
enable the framebuffer options in the kernel. It wasn't actually hanging, it
just wasn't able to output anything to the screen.
