Hello. I have configured my modem and when I connect use to connect I get an
error (in var/log/syslog) about my modem is not 7-bit clean and then it
terminates the connection.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Hi,
I just read the guide of ltsp, and they said something about this. Do you

This allows portmapper access to all computers in 192.168.0.0 network.

This pretty much goes along side the "CDROM device" question asked by William
Leese earlier on the list, but I have troubles too ;-)
I recompiled my kernel (2.4.1) last night to include support for my new cd
writer, but now that i have done that, the switch to IDE to SCSI emulation has

Hi,
I bought an old NIC, but it seems that it is a bit broken. It is a
Racal-Datacom which uses the in52 driver.
The problem is, that when I make a floppy with etherboot, etherboot tells
me that the card is broken:

How does this "region free" patch handle R1 RCE (Region Code Enhancement)
discs?
Hello,
I have recently upgraded to XF4.0.2. I cannot forward some remote
computers' DISPLAY to my local XServer. For example, I have a FreeBSD
firewall for which I cannot forward the DISPLAY variable to the Debian
box. I can forward local accounts, such as root, and run X11 apps. I
can forward

I've had this problem on and off for awhile with a sid box. WindowMaker is
my window manager, but the same problem occurs when I run any other manager.
I first noticed that when I run the Gnome Control Panel X reboots back to
kdm. Based on scouring the internet I narrowed it down to

Since you are in SCSI emulation, you need to change softlink:
/dev/scd0 ->/dev/cdrom
(check dmsg to be sure)
Actually, you do not need to recompile kernel to get ide-scsi
to work. Debian default kernel has module support. Enable them
by adding following line in lilo.conf
append="hdc=id

Hello everyone,
I'm running potato with a smattering of woody packages. I recently
tried to install the game "powermanga" from unstable using apt-get. It
failed to install, here is the output (sorry, it's long):
debian:/home/dave# apt-get install powermanga

Running Debian 2.2 w/ kernel 2.4.1 and XFree86 4.0.2. I've
had a lot of trouble getting KDE installed and running. I
now have it limping along but everything isn't quite kosher.
First, XFree86 was loading into a default configuration
rather than starting KDE. startx calls
