Joao, Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the other protocols (MSN, IRC) come compiled into gaim.  I think that you can enable them by going into Tools>Plugins...  I'm not sure, though, as I run Gaim from CVS, which I would recommend.  As an added bonus, Gaim comes default with the oth
