Ok, here's the problem in one sentence. "Need to be suid root to create lock files! Only I thought being in the dialout group got me around this in linux, but apparently not in dosemu. Is there a solution to this? TIA.

Actually, I know of people who do use it in cosole mode and it it partially working for me even now (word-perfect 5.1 worked) so I don't think I should give up on it just because I can't run it in xwindows.
