The fact that it is on the same disk is not relevant. Apart from that, I
suggest you re-read Dan's mail more carefully, everything was in it.

Yes, absoltely.

Is that true? If the source is deleted as part of the process it's no
longer a "copy."

I encountered a serious bug on moving files from one folder to another
with standard "Files" application in Gnome. Namely, when the number of
files in the distination folder is about 4,500, the "Files" application
deadly hangs, and only restaring the system helps. The
Dear Debianists,
I have a few questions about QEMU. I posted a query a while back about
loading cdrom image files into Windows 98 (guest) running under QEMU with
Debian Etch r1 (AMD64) as the underlying OS.
I followed the helpful recipes and I loaded some software on to Windows 98 and
It looks like you're missing arguments in the mount command.
You might want to try:
mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt
On my system, I've created a directory (mkdir /95) and added an entry into
fstab:
/dev/hda2 /95 vfatdefaults0 0
This way if I want to move a fil

I've just discovered a way of getting an "almost unix shell" on a msdos
window under Windows 95.
There is a port of GNU software to the DOS environment. I have downloaded
bash, emacs, and lots of other useful "unix like" commands to a windows
box and it works beautifully. The port is called "DJ

If your NT box is networked to a machine with a CD writer, consider making
a CD.
There is support in Debian for .zip files (look for the zip package).
I think some zip programs can split up files for multiple floppies.

Hello,
I want to split my partition on my hard drive (fat 32) with fips and I'm
having
trouble moving files from near the end of my hard drive using the defrag program
that came with windoze 95. Many of the files are marked with data that will not
be moved. How do I get these files to

I have read through some of the man-pages
for "mtools", but I cannot determine how to
move a file between a DOS hard drive and
a Linux hard drive. [By "DOS hard drive",
I mean the drive containing Win95, etc.;
by "Linux hard drive", I mean a 2nd drive
containing Debian 1.3.]

Well, we're well off the topic of "Debian", not to mention Linux-specific
problems, but
you could have replaced the "grep -v ./mnt | grep -v ./proc" w

My friend and I have installed debian, but he has not signed up to this

He just got a new larger hard drive for debian, and wanted to move his
installed setup onto the new one. I have the old one mounted as root, and
the new one mounted on '/mnt'. I have run mkfs on the new HD.
