Not sure if debian-installer can be built before the kernel is.
Anyway, please test and give feedback, before i upload, so we can have
all these powerpc subarches supported by debian-installer and debian as
of the sarge release.

later, since the sarge release is scheduled for december 1, and the
official freeze time for it has already started, or will start on

Please notice that i have new kernel packages for prep, chrp and
chrp-rs6k at :
http://people.debian.org/~luther/powerpc/2.4.22
Altough nobody from the debian-boot people cared to test them, despite i

They still are problematic with regard to modules, but i am currently
fixing that. If only kernel-package was not so braindead, i would
already have them uploaded.

New versions of these packages will be available in half an hour or so,
when i f

But the current experimental gnome packages where done by the so called
gnome team, which insatisfied by the existing gnome maintainers, tried
to upload their own packages, so the quality suffered from their
relative inexperience. Fill bug reports though, and they will (i hope)
fix it.

So, please, fill in the blanks above if you have access to one of those

solution.

I did that also, but you should ever read the documentation. The
--subarch option solves this without needing to patch.

The Radeon 9600

Anyway, i don't have the hardware and cannot try this, so it is somewhat
upto you (and other oldworld users) to give me a working kernel config,
and give Goswin a working build process.
I will try a new build today, including the ROOT_NFS thing in the

And yes, the modules in the .udeb will _NOT_ work, since they are taken
from the powerpc config build, not the powerpc-small.
But linux-kernel-di should solve that for us, i hope.

3D support on ppc. Unless ATI gives specs for their 9600 chips
(unlikely) or make a powerpc build of their proprietary drivers (also
unlikely, since we have no idea how much people actually use their chips
on ppc).
The only negative side is that those use the ppc 7445 processor, wh

Yep, that is my belief, but it is only from informal knowledge about the
graphic core used in this card, i have neve

* NFS root filesystem now builtin.
* Added Pegasos support.
* Added Voodoo patches (don't seem to be enough for Voodoo 4 & 5 though).

Mmm, no idea about this one, maybe a special 2.6 kernel support for d-i
would be nice to have, a bit like woody's boot-floppies supported 2.2
and 2.4 kernels ?

Now if only the ftp-master were willing to accept them.

No idea, seems like a gnome bug to me, same questions as above apply
here.

On ppcnux.de[1] there´re still excellent config files.

Hi,
did somebody the HW Sensor on the 12" PowerBook (6,1) got to work ?
'ioreg -blsx' under OSX shows you an Analog Device 103x Chipset with
two sensors. (located on the GPU Topside and CPU Bottomside).
There´s only the ADM1032 supported by the LM90 driver ?
I´ll give lmsensors 2.8.1 a try.

Err, the question was _why_ do you need it for printing, not if you did.
I guess you hae a serial printer or something such.

000 or
something such. At least that was what the NVidia people tell, i have
some doubt myself that it would cost all that much to do a ppc rebuild
though, but then maybe their code is an endianess nightmare or something
such.

So, i wonder what i am doing different from you here, since you are
clearly telling it works for you.

BTW, what processor are you using ?
Thanks for the information.

Ok, i will try that, altough a G3 should be less similar to a 604e than
a G4, maybe.

Nope, setting JITC_PROCESSOR_TYPE to any value from 0 to 8 doesn't seem
to help. Setting JAVA_COMPILER=NONE worked, but there is not JIT then.

Try the ppc64 kernel mentioned below, please.
