Here's the output of my dmesg. I finally got it go to, i needed modules-init-tools. :) But, the gdm problem is still there. It fails to load gdm completely. Also it bombs out on vt switching. When I try to switch from X to VT, it completely kills the system, and because no one knows the key combin

It works fine under 2.4.21-ben2-xfs (my current kernel). It only fails to work with 2.6.0-test5 (benh bitkeeper tree). It's a wierd one. I'm finding it difficult to locate errors because /var/log/dmesg is broken too!!! (The first time I've ever seen that in the last 5 years I'
