Hi !
I've upgraded my sid install on Powermac G5 yesterday (the last time
was weeks ago). I wasn't smart enough to survey all the upgrade, which
seemed to have run fine. But now, my systems fails to boot into linux.
At startup, I've got a little Finder-with-question-mark icon (no
bootable
ODULE_SIG and I’ve modified the options. But the build fails with this :
make[1] : *** No rule to build target « debian/certs/debian-uefi-certs.pem »,
needed for « certs/x509_certificate_list ». Stop
What did I miss ?

Not mine : it’s a 2.O ghz model, air-cooled.

°C now.
I will monitor those temperatures with sid.
As John Paul suggests, I will try different kernels. First, can I try
Jessie's kernel in Sid or will it be a problem with my ext4 root
partition ? I'll try to build more recent kernels after that.
Thanks for your kind answers.

e it runs absolutely fine in debian wheezy and osX.
Has anyone a clue to help me to track down the cause of these so that I
can file a bug ?

I didn't find this bug in a bug report on the r300 driver and may file one.

orks. Someone should maybe add to this guide
the need to pin the grub debian package to avoid an accidental upgrade
which would break it again.
I'm curious to see how the radeon card will run with this machine : my

The computer reboots fine.
Should I file a bug ?

Hi,
as I said previously, Mate is sluggish on my fresh install on sid-ppc64
and a G5. The menus are slow, some scrollings are painfull in some apps
(thunderbird or smooth-scrolling in firefox for instance, most gtk3 apps).
I've found this in dmesg :

ppc64.
I may remember that someone on this list did mention this kind of crash
before.

I never encountered this on my
powerbook. I'm rluctant to upgrade for now, since it really works like
a charm with Jessie.
Which model do you have ?

Depending of the G5 model.
Powermac7,3 had PCI and AGP slots (those with processors up to 2 x 2.7 ghz).
Powermac11.2 (those with dual core processors up to "Quad 2.5 ghz" which is a 2
x 2.5 ghz dual core cpus) had PCIe slots.
But the AGP graphic cards from powermac G4 couldn't fit in the AGP slot of the
powermacG5 (I tried it myself).

ternatively, linux’s parted utility can resize hfs+ filesystems if they are
not journaled. You can use an old ubuntu ppc live cd to do this. That’s what i
did when I install linux on ppc first. See :
