Anybody using Google Chrome or Chromium for PPC Linux?
Theoritically, we whould be able to build Chromium from source for PPC.

Hi,
I upgraded squeeze today and noticed a lot of X related updates.
Specifically, it updated the Xorg, mesa, and various ati drivers.
After the upgrade, the r128 driver doesn't seem to be working. The main

installed the 2.6.29-2 image. However, I can't seem to load the
rt2870sta module.
Is the module not built for powerpc kernels?

RAM works sporadically. The disk spins down but the machine locks up
and leaves the display on. This did not happen in Etch.
I tried using the -r switch as stated in the s2ram man page but no
luck. The driver I am using is r128.

Everything works as expected, however there were xorg issues that were resolved
by adding modeline configurations (See link).

Lenny recently upgraded the kernel to 2.

Hey guys,
I apologize for the fairly primitive question. But I have been fairly curious
as to the advantages of compiling the most recent kernels.
As I understand, the new kernel has a new scheduler (CFS). Haven't seen much
benchmarks but the early ones I have seen showed some fairly decent per
Hello fellow debian users,
I am trying to look for a decent FLOSS VOIP software that allows me to
communicate to Windows/Mac users. Skype is out of the question since it does
not even support Debian PPC (which I have).
I have heard of Ekiga. How is that? Does that work with Windows/Mac users us

Hey guys,
I am confused as to what power management technology I should be using. When I
installed debian etch on this powerpc Apple PowerBook, apm was used as default.
Things are working great here and I have no complaints. However, I understand
there is also ACPI, which is newer.
Are there a

Hey everyone,
Has anybody tried to use initng on a powerpc debian system? Currently I'm
running Debian Etch 4.0r1 and would like to experiment with initng.
But before diving into it, I wanted the opinions of others.
* Is it quite stable in its current form?
* Does it really cut the boot time
thanks for the info. It looks like I'm using the same graphics card as well.

Hey there,
Thanks for the response. It is good to know that this is not a debian specific
issue.
* As for my graphics card, I am using an ATI chip. This is a fairly old
PowerBook G4.
* Kernel Version: 2.16.18.4-powerpc
I will definitely try to do a bit more research about the backlight curve
Thank you!
I did check out pommed and it requires kernel 2.6.22 I think so I will have to
compile that and then compile pommed from source. I rather not move into
unstable just yet.

Hey guys,
I have Debian 'etch' installed on this system and my God it is a beautiful
system. It gives life back into this old baby. No major issues at all. Great job
by the developers!
However, I have a small issue with the brightness level. I had OpenBSD (4.1) and
Mac OS X (10.4) installed at on
I just recently installed etch on my laptop as well. Although this one is a
PowerBook G4. Sound worked out of the box without configuring. However, I did
have the issue of sound on my desktop with etch. So I just ran the following
commands.

Perfect!
I currently use the mouseemu package so I will go ahead and take your
suggestions and apply it there.
Thanks again!

Another issue that I had.
How I do copy and paste between applications and terminal windows? With PC and
full sized keyboard, I simply use 'Shift + Insert'. Do you have any suggestions
as to how it would work in a PowerBook keyboard (I can't seem to find and
insert key).

Thanks for the quick response.
That did the trick! I just simply installed it from aptitude and it works as
expected. Thanks!

Hey Guys,
Just installed Debian etch and it's working great! Only issue is with Midnight
Commander. Debian has automatically detected the F1-F6 keys in the PowerBook as
brightness +/-, volume +/-, numlock, and mute, respectively. Now, I can't seem
to use MidnightCommander F1-F6 since they are mapp
