Thanks for clarifying. The other poster was right, try out compiling all the support for the filesystems in your kernel. If that doesn't work there are several things you can try: 1. Launch 'fdisk' and try to print out the partition table. You can also verify the partition table from within fdisk. If fdisk recognizes it then that is a good sign and it could be just that your kernel doesn't have support for it. 2. You can recreate the partion table using fdisk or gparted. I am not sure if this will format your data but if you just want to reuse the disk this maybe an option. 3. If you need to recover data from a disk, use 'photorec' it is a great app and can recover almost anything. 4. Try force mounting the disk. e.g. mount /dev/sda /mnt/disk. 5. Use 'TestDisk' http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk It's open source and from the same place that makes photorec. It can fix and recover partition tables, etc. I think you should take a look at #5 first and go from there. Hope this helps. Good luck and post back your results.
