This is (or at least WAS) not the case. Back in the days of the LinuxPPC
distro (yes - that far back), with a lot of help from Takashi Oe
initially, and then Anthony Sexton and Gerd Knorr afterwards, we got
xawtv working with the bttv driver on my personal 7500 at that time,

Nick,
I am interested in the same exact thing. I

Has anyone had any sucess getting a video capture card to work well on a

a 240 one) and I could only get it boot from BootX. It is
a bit slower but it works, so if you have enough space to
keep a minimal MacOS on your HD, that might be a way out.

Hi,
I can't manage to get a proper French keymap on my ibook (both with a
fb console and with X). I tried the default ones and the one from
linux-france.org but I miss some
important characters like backslash, pipe and square brackets.
Does any French ibook user have a better keymap to propose?

Try getting things to work without the usb-hotplugging stuff first (try
warm booting to linux from osx with the speakers plugged in), in my

FWIW I've just re-installed woody on my 8100/80 nubus Mac with the
2.4.19rc1 kernel.
I reported previously that when I installed potato (kernel 2.2.5 IIRC)
the installation automatically configured my network connection from the
dhcp server but when reinstalling/upgrading to woody 2.4.19

Hi,
In the past week I have been suffering from a rather odd bug (or pair of
bugs perhaps) on my woody iBook: keys on the keyboard seem to be sticking
down and my mouse is quite jerky. This problem has not cropped up in Mac
OS X and I am pretty sure it isn't my hardware, but that is obviously no

I'm trying to wrap my head around all these PPC Linux kernel trees...
One of the pages at ppckernel.org says that the BenH and BK trees are
slightly different and maintained by different people: BenH doing one tree
and Cort Dougan doing the BK tree. Surely this is outdated information?

I've been trying some of the latest kernels. The 2.4.x versions seem to
work OK except I can't seem to get X to work. I have a dual proc G4 and

I successfully installed KDE3 in a new iBook2 for a friend (about three
weeks ago) using this sources.list entry:
